Soccer Recap: Salem Extends Winning Streak to Three

Salem won the last time they faced Cave Spring and things went their way on Friday too. The Spartans blew past the Knights 5-2. Given Salem's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Cave Spring are ranked 165th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Salem hit Cave Spring with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from TJ Fisher (2), Elijah Clark (2), and Joseph Serrano.

The victory (which was Salem's third in a row) raised their record to 7-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those three contests. As for Cave Spring, they dropped their record down to 3-8-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salem will square off against Blacksburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Blacksburg will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Salem surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cave Spring, they will face off against Patrick Henry at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
