Baseball Recap: Wolcott RVT Beats Northwestern Regional for Their Fifth Straight Win

Wolcott RVT came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Northwestern Regional Highlanders with a sharp 8-2 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Damian Webb made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Wolcott RVT got a big performance out of Brody Nadeu, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits Nadeu has posted over his last nine games. Another player making a difference was Devon Schmitt, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI.

Wolcott RVT was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwestern Regional only posted a batting average of .045.

Wolcott RVT's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Northwestern Regional, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wolcott RVT will host Bassick at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Northwestern Regional, they will face off against Canton at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
