Basketball Recap: Caroline Ford's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Guerin Catholic over Sheridan

Guerin Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sheridan Blackhawks. The Golden Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blackhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caroline Ford, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Those nine boards gave Ford a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Bills, who went 8 of 19 on her way to 18 points and three steals.

Sheridan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cecilia Timme led the charge by going 7 for 13 en route to 17 points and six rebounds. Kenzie Garner was another key player, almost dropping a triple-double on ten points, 14 boards, and nine assists.

Guerin Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Sheridan, the win (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 17-1.

Guerin Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-39 victory against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory on the 24th. As for Sheridan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-42 win against Delphi Community on the 23rd.
