Basketball Recap: American History Piles Up the Points Against Academy Charter

American History's game two weeks ago was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 72-41 blowout they got against Academy Charter. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

American History's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ihjamir Williams led the charge by putting up 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and five blocks. That's the most points Williams has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Basheer Branch, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards.

American History smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

American History's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Academy Charter, their record is now 2-4.

American History wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-46 win against KIPP Newark Lab on the 4th. As for Academy Charter, they will head out to face off against Allentown at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
