Basketball Game Preview: Marietta Blue Devils vs. Mount Vernon Mustangs

The Marietta Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Mount Vernon Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Marietta had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 34-point drubbing they dealt North Paulding on Friday. The Blue Devils breezed past the Wolfpack to the tune of 64-30. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 262nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mount Vernon put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat The Weber School 89-44. The Mustangs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Mount Vernon's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Marietta, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Marietta beat Mount Vernon 65-54 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
