Xavier strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They enjoyed a cozy 24-10 victory over the St. Peter's Eagles. The Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Xavier's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Buono led the charge by rushing for 111 yards and one TD on only eight carries, while also catching one score. Peter Heaney also helped out as he racked up 126 rushing yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Xavier was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 314 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 220 rushing yards in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Xavier didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ace Jernstedt and Brian Caulfield. Xavier got some further help from James Halpin: he picked up two sacks and made five total tackles.

Xavier's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for St. Peter's, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Xavier will head out to face off against St. Francis Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Peter's, they will take on Monsignor Farrell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
