Basketball Recap: Kingsley Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wakefield over Herington

Wakefield lost against Herington two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Wakefield Bombers fell just short of the Herington Railroaders by a score of 34-32. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bombers have suffered against the Railroaders since January 30, 2018.

Several Bombers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kingsley Smith, who posted eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bradyn Moenning, who had seven points.

Mason Mortensen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Herington, putting up 22 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Mortensen has scored at least a third of Herington's points.

Wakefield's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Herington, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-7.

Wakefield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 78-16 loss against Blue Valley on the 28th. As for Herington, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 75-48 defeat against Little River on the 27th.
