Soccer Game Preview: Martinsville vs. Perry Meridian

The Martinsville Artesians are taking a road trip to face off against the Perry Meridian Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Martinsville's defense has only allowed 0.4 goals per game this season, so Perry Meridian's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Perry Meridian will be up against a hot Martinsville team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Artesians walked away with a 3-1 win over Whiteland on Thursday. Given Martinsville's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana soccer rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Whiteland are ranked 107th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Charlie Rawlins and Will Payton scored all three of Martinsville's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Perry Meridian took on Decatur Central on Wednesday. The Falcons fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 3-2. Derick Montoya was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Martinsville's victory bumped their record up to 11-1-1. As for Perry Meridian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
