Volleyball Recap: Washington Beats Irvington for Their Third Straight Win

Washington waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Irvington Vikings. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Huskies have posted since March 11th.

Washington had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-18, 15-11.

Michael Peng was the offensive standout of the contest as he had 21 digs and two assists. Those 21 digs gave him a new career-high. Ranjay Makkar also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

The victory got Washington back to even at 5-5. As for Irvington, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.
