Softball Recap: Monument Mountain Comes Up Short

Monument Mountain had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 3-9 to make it four. They lost 18-5 to the Hoosac Valley Hurricanes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hurricanes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 back in April.

As for Hoosac Valley, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 14-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 15.0 runs this season.

For Hoosac Valley's part, Gracelyn Wright was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Wright was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hoosac Valley got a massive performance out of Rachael Wnuk, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI Wnuk has posted since back in March. Genevieve Lagess was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Monument Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Lenox Memorial on the 11th. As for Hoosac Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-0 win against Mohawk Trail Regional on the 11th.
