Recap: River Valley Dust Devils vs. Mohave Accelerated Patriots
The River Valley Dust Devils couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 59-41 to Mohave Accelerated. River Valley has not had much luck with Mohave Accelerated recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
River Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kierra Clay, who scored 15 points, and Avery Waldrip who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Veronica Galvez, who scored 6 points.
Among those leading the charge was Bronte Gee, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Mohave Accelerated's points. Another player making a difference was Haley Leslie, who scored 12 points along with 5 steals.
River Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Mohave Accelerated, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
River Valley will head out on the road to face off against Chino Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mohave Accelerated, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Mohave at 5:30 p.m.
