Softball Recap: Lafayette Extends Road Winning Streak to Eight

Lafayette entered their tilt with Pontotoc on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 5-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-4 last Tuesday.

Lafayette pushed their record up to 21-5 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Pontotoc, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.

Looking ahead, Lafayette will challenge New Hope at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Commodores 2.2, the Trojans 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Pontotoc, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-2 loss against Nettleton on the 11th.
