Baseball Game Preview: Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs vs. Lynnville-Sully Hawks

The Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Lynnville-Sully Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Prairie City-Monroe is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Roland-Story just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Norsemen.

Meanwhile, Lynnville-Sully came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the Braves 10-8.

Lynnville-Sully's victory was their 24th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Prairie City-Monroe, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Prairie City-Monroe beat Lynnville-Sully 9-4 when the teams last played back in June of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
