Ashley typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Grimsley proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Screaming Eagle 6-4. The victory was nothing new for the Whirlies as they're now sitting on five straight.

Jacob Benbow tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Clay Rosser, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Grimsley pushed their record up to 17-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Ashley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-4 record this season.

Grimsley will be playing in front of their home fans against Northern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ashley, they will venture away from home to challenge New Hanover at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
