Basketball Recap: Chester's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

It was a good run, but Chester unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They received a blow as they fell 55-37 to the Massac County Patriots.

When it comes to explaining why Chester lost, don't look at Lexie Mott. Despite the final result, she went 5 for 8 on her way to 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Mott has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Marlie Caby, who posted seven points.

Even though they lost, Chester smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Chester's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Massac County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Chester will face off against Dupo at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Massac County, they will head out to challenge Harrisburg at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
