Softball Recap: Richland Center Extends Winning Streak to Four

Richland Center and Ithaca pushed the score to 10-9 the last time they played Ithaca, but on Saturday defenses reigned supreme. The Hornets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 4-0 shutout. The victory was nothing new for the Hornets as they're now sitting on four straight.

Ithaca's batters probably weren't too happy with Kyree Fischer, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 16 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Fischer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Richland Center secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Carley Mieden, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI. Ella Clements also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Richland Center's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ithaca, with the defeat, they broke their ten-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-5.

Looking ahead, Richland Center will take on Prairie du Chien at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ithaca, they will host Seneca at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
