Game recap: Richland High School Football Team beats Central Cambria

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - Richland (Johnstown, Pa.) kept up a steady attack all game long to beat Central Cambria (Ebensburg, Pa.), 35-7, on Saturday.

The Rams were up 21-7 at the half after taking the lead on a Matt Shaffer touchdown pass to Luke Shertzer in the first quarter.

Richland expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. RHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Tanner Solarczyk touchdown run.

With the win the Johnstown school extended its winning streak to nine games. The Rams defeated the Panthers 30-12 last week.



Zach Mazzarella made a difference for the Red Devils. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored two touchdowns on the season.

Solarczyk played well for Richland in the victory. The junior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 20 touchdowns on the season.

Central Cambria's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Mazzarella in the second quarter.

RHS had given up an average of 11.4 points prior to the contest. The seven points that CC ended with were right around its average of 9.5 coming into the game.

The Rams also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 28-14.

The loss comes after Central Cambria defeated Bedford 30-6 last week.



Richland (9-0) goes up against Bellwood-Antis in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Central Cambria (2-7) locks horns with Bishop McCort in a Laurel Highlands game.
