Monte Vista's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 7-0 margin over San Rafael. The game marked the Mustangs' most dominant win of the season so far.
Kaysi Patel tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sophia Leyden, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hailey Frantz, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Monte Vista lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Carondelet didn't have quite enough to beat Bishop O'Dowd on Friday and fell 9-8. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Carondelet also got a good showing from Maia Scholtens, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Carondelet saw ten different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Myleiana Lopez, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those doubles marked the first that Lopez hit this season. Arielle Henriquez was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Carondelet's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Monte Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
