Softball Recap: Pisgah Comes Up Short

Pisgah entered their matchup against Puckett on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Pisgah took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Puckett. Dragons fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wolves since on Thursday.

Ally Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Pisgah saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addy Best, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

Pisgah's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 14-4. As for Puckett, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6-1 record this season.

Pisgah will face off against Wesson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Wesson will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Pisgah surely won't give up without a fight. As for Puckett, they will welcome Pelahatchie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pelahatchie has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.33 runs per game on average), something Puckett will no doubt try to take advantage of.
