Softball Recap: Pflugerville Connally Triumphs

Pflugerville Connally's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Killeen Kangaroos as the Pflugerville Connally Cougars made off with a 14-5 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cougars needed considering they were shutout in their previous matchup.

Pflugerville Connally let Anya Gordon and Natalie Gonzalez loose on the outfield. Gordon went a perfect2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Gonzalez scored three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Gonzalez has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandra Swinney, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Pflugerville Connally always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .524 that Killeen posted.

Pflugerville Connally's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Killeen, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Pflugerville Connally wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-1 loss against Harker Heights on the 15th. As for Killeen, they are taking a road trip to face off against Rogers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
