Basketball Recap: Columbus Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Columbus won the last time they faced Warren Central and things went their way on Saturday too. The Columbus Falcons enjoyed a cozy 47-33 win over the Warren Central Vikings. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Vikings are ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Warren Central had strong showings from Camara Evans, who posted 14 points, and Arrionna Jenkins, who earned 12 points. That was a full 42.4% of Warren Central's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Columbus' victory bumped their record up to 7-14. As for Warren Central, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-20.

Columbus didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 33-32 win against Ridgeland on the 4th. As for Warren Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 62-46 defeat against Vicksburg on the 4th.
