Baseball Recap: Fernandina Beach Extends Winning Streak to Three

Fernandina Beach extended their postseason success on Monday against West Nassau. They had just enough and edged out the Warriors 6-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Pirates, who have now won three games in a row.

Eli Salyer was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Grady Stevens tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Trace Farmer, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Jones, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with one run.

Fernandina Beach's win bumped their record up to 19-6. As for West Nassau, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-10.
