Santa Cruz Valley had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Camp Verde on Tuesday. The Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils never let the Camp Verde Cowboys get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. For the Dust Devils, this counts as revenge for the 6-2 win the Cowboys walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2017.

The result came thanks to Alyssa Flores's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mikayla Leos, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tatiyana Reyes, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Santa Cruz Valley's record now sits at 3-1. As for Camp Verde, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-9.

Looking ahead, Santa Cruz Valley will be taking part in a tournament against Benson at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Benson has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.89 runs per game on average), something Santa Cruz Valley will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Camp Verde, they will challenge Chino Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
