Football Game Preview: West Stanly Colts vs. Burns Bulldogs

The West Stanly Colts will square off against the Burns Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Stanly will be strutting in after a win while Burns will be coming in after a defeat.

West Stanly is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lexington Senior, sneaking past 24-22. The victory was some much needed relief for the Colts as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

A big part of West Stanly's win came down to the chemistry between Hudson Snider and his top target Dominik Danzy. Snider threw for 173 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Danzy picked up 111 receiving yards and two scores. Those two receiving touchdowns gave Danzy a new career-high.

West Stanly didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Sam Yarbrough and Maverick Scott. Another thorn in Lexington Senior's side was Barrett Barbee, who picked up three sacks and made four total tackles.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Burns' good fortune finally ran out two weeks ago. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 36-35 to Shelby. The Bulldogs gained 60 more yards on the day, but it was the Golden Lions that made the best use of them.

West Stanly will need to focus on slowing down Romelo Wells, one of several Burns players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 93 yards and three TDs. Another player making a difference was Drew Dixon, who gained 174 total yards and a touchdown.

Burns suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 6-4. As for West Stanly, their victory bumped their record up to 2-9.
