Softball Game Preview: West Geauga Wolverines vs. Berkshire Badgers

The West Geauga Wolverines will square off against the Berkshire Badgers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

West Geauga is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Edgewood just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors.

Ava Borz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Cara Day was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Berkshire had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They never let the Hornets get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Badgers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Berkshire's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for West Geauga, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

West Geauga came out on top in a nail-biter against Berkshire when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 7-5. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Badgers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
