Softball Recap: Tooele Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hillcrest

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tooele). They blew past the Hillcrest Huskies 10-2 on Friday. The Buffaloes haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Kenni Molgard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Nelson, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Hunter Culley was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run.

Tooele hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillcrest struck out seven times.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Hillcrest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tooele will square off against Grantsville at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Tooele's pitchers better be ready for this one: Grantsville has averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Hillcrest, they will face off against Murray at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
