Basketball Recap: Research Triangle Find Success

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Research Triangle and Falls Lake, and Research Triangle kept the tradition alive. The Raptors secured a 53-49 W over the Firebirds on Monday. For the Raptors, this counts as revenge for the 58-48 victory the Firebirds walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.

Among those leading the charge was Zain Abdelbaky, who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Akash Immani, who earned nine points.

Falls Lake's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camden Cooke, who put up 14 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Dalton Parker was another key player, going 7-for-12 to rack up 18 points.

Research Triangle's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Falls Lake, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Research Triangle will head out to square off against Voyager Academy at 7:30 p.m. on the 2nd. As for Falls Lake, they will venture away from home to face off against Clover Garden School at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
