Softball Recap: Mission Comes Up Short

Mission extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-5 in the process. They lost 16-0 to the Lincoln Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 back in March.

As for Lincoln, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-6. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Lincoln's part, Anjali Evans was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Evans is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brienna Tsui, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Coming up, Mission will challenge Galileo at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lincoln, they are taking a road trip to challenge El Camino at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Colts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.92 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
