Softball Recap: Henrico Takes a Loss

Henrico extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 1-14. They came up short against the Highland Springs Springers, falling 19-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Springers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 back in April.

As for Highland Springs, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9. The result was nothing new for the Springers, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Highland Springs' part, the team relied heavily on Ashlynne Porter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Makaila Gallagher, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Henrico will take on Patrick Henry at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Highland Springs, they will challenge Petersburg at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Crimson Wave have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.47 runs per game on average), something the Springers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
