Baseball Recap: Midland Valley Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Midland Valley had to endure an 11-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Henry County Patriots by a score of 5-1 on Monday.

Landon Johnson was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nate Evans, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Evans has become a key player for Midland Valley: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-11-1 otherwise. Another was Turner Scott, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Midland Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Midland Valley's win bumped their record up to 3-12-1. As for Henry County, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-5.

Coming up, Midland Valley will venture away from home to face off against Carlisle County at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Henry County has already played their next match (against Northwest), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
