Football Recap: Pottsboro Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bells last Friday, Pottsboro came back down to earth. The Cardinals took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sanger Indians on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cardinals came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while the Indians are ranked 526th).

Sanger's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reginald Jones, who rushed for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Bola Ogunwuyi, who rushed for 75 yards and one score on only eight carries.

Pottsboro's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Sanger, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pottsboro will venture away from home to take on Mount Vernon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sanger, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Community at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
