Baseball Game Preview: San Marin Mustangs vs. Novato Hornets

San Marin has gone 8-2 against Novato recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The San Marin Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Novato Hornets at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (San Marin 1.7, Novato 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Novato will be up against a hot San Marin team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. San Marin walked away with a 6-1 victory over Novato on Tuesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 2, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Sean McGrath was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of San Marin's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). McGrath was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joey Cipollina, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Trevor Krejdovsky, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

San Marin's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Novato, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
