Baseball Preview: North Central Panthers vs. Mooresville Pioneers

The North Central Panthers will take on the Mooresville Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

North Central took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged Ben Davis out 7-6.

Jackson Dinnsen looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Rykin Matthias was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Stryker Swenson, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Mooresville entered their tilt with Plainfield with 17 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 18. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Quakers on Thursday.

Levi Dorn was excellent, going 1-for-2 with a stolen base and two RBI. Deklan Thompson was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

North Central now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Mooresville, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2.

North Central suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Mooresville when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can North Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
