The Cheshire Academy Cats will head out on the road to face off against the Loomis Chaffee School Pelicans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
Cheshire Academy managed to slip by Suffield Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cats lost 13-1 to the Tigers on Saturday. The contest marked the Cats' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Cheshire Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was T Ferraiolo, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Ferraiolo is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. V Gamero also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Loomis Chaffee School had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Big Red with a sharp 20-1 win. The Pelicans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.
Victoria Budarz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Budarz was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Loomis Chaffee School got a massive performance out of Solen Trainor, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Larkyn Domer-Shank, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Loomis Chaffee School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Taft School only posted an OBP of .133.
Loomis Chaffee School's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cheshire Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Cheshire Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Loomis Chaffee School struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Cheshire Academy's way against Loomis Chaffee School in their previous meeting back in April of 2017, as Cheshire Academy made off with an 11-0 victory. Do the Cats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pelicans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
