Recap: Telfair County Trojans vs. Hawkinsville Red Devils

There's no place like home for the Telfair County Trojans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They managed a 70-64 win over Hawkinsville on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Rodriquez Clay was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Christon ?Tuga? Zanders, who scored 14 points.

Hawkinsville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nelson Singletary, who scored 17 points along with six steals and five assists. Singletary is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Darius Anderson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Hawkinsville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Telfair County's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Hawkinsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Telfair County will take on Bleckley County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bleckley County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Telfair County in Georgia (Bleckley County is ranked 135th, while Telfair County is ranked 463rd). As for Hawkinsville, they will be playing at home against Treutlen at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Treutlen knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 contests -- so hopefully Hawkinsville likes a good challenge.
