Softball Recap: Chipley Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Chipley won against Sneads last Friday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Paxton Bobcats 16-15. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won seven contests in a row.

Jadyn Pettis was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Abigail Thompson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Pettis wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Chipley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's a new trend for the Tigers: they were averaging 4.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.4.

Chipley's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Paxton, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chipley will square off against Bozeman at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Paxton, they will head out to challenge Vernon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellowjackets have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
