Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Cardinal Gibbons' Tenth in Last 11 Outings

Cardinal Gibbons was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on the Athens Drive Jaguars with a sharp 8-2 victory. Considering the Crusaders have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cardinal Gibbons got a great performance from Max Boyatt as he struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Boyatt has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bryce Fitzsimmons was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jakub Mudd, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Cardinal Gibbons has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Athens Drive, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.
