Softball Game Preview: Oak Grove Tigers vs. Corner Yellow Jackets

Oak Grove is 1-6 against Corner since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Tigers will welcome the Yellow Jackets at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Oak Grove had been on a four-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Hueytown put an end to it on Tuesday. The Tigers came up short against the Golden Gophers, falling 12-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered since March 18th.

Oak Grove saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracie 'Sassy' Renz, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Corner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 11-8 to Gardendale.

Adalyn Owens led a balanced group of hitters, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Anna Kate Smith, who went 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Oak Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 21-15. As for Corner, their loss dropped their record down to 11-20-1.
