Basketball Recap: Wayland-Cohocton Takes a Loss

Wayland-Cohocton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 52-24 defeat at the hands of the Caledonia-Mumford Raiders. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Among those leading the charge was Tyler Potter, who went 7 for 17 on his way to 16 points along with five assists and three steals. Those five assists gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sean McNear, who posted six points and five rebounds.

Wayland-Cohocton's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Caledonia-Mumford, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-8.

Wayland-Cohocton and Caledonia-Mumford could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. Wayland-Cohocton will face off against Hornell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday down 366 places (663 vs. 297). Similarly, Caledonia-Mumford (ranked 521st) will meet Avon (ranked 79th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
