Basketball Recap: Rye Takes a Loss

Rye played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by The Vanguard School Coursers and fell 85-48. The Thunderbolts haven't had much luck with the Coursers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

It was another big night for Lorenzo Bustamante, who posted 33 points for The Vanguard School. With that strong performance, Bustamante is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was JJ Wetters, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 assists.

Rye's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for The Vanguard School, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rye will head out to face off against Crowley County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crowley County will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Rye surely won't give up without a fight. As for The Vanguard School, they will head out on the road to square off against Manitou Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vanguard School knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Manitou Springs likes a good challenge.
