Basketball Recap: Wylie Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

Wylie won the last time they faced Rowlett and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wylie Pirates came out on top against the Rowlett Eagles by a score of 59-51. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Eagles are ranked 522nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jordan Jones and Braylon Griffith certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Jones posted 15 points, while Griffith went 6 for 8 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Mcmanigell, who scored seven points.

Wylie's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-11. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Rowlett, their loss dropped their record down to 10-15.

The future could be bright for both Wylie and Rowlett: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Wylie will try to hand Garland their 14th-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Rowlett will look to extend Lakeview Centennial's six-game losing streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
