Volleyball Recap: Trinity Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Avalynn Johnson and Katelyn Hill

After flying high against Providence Grove on Tuesday, Trinity came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell 3-1 to the West Davidson Dragons on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Dragons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 16-25, 25-21, 25-20.

Despite the loss, Trinity had strong showings from Katelyn Hill, who had 12 digs and three aces, and Avalynn Johnson, who had 29 assists. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last 49 games she's played dating back to last season.

West Davidson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emoree Terry led the charge by getting 32 assists and 22 digs. Those 22 digs gave Terry a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Simerson, who had 11 digs and two aces.

Trinity's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for West Davidson, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Trinity and West Davidson are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Bulldogs will challenge Providence Grove at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for West Davidson, they will square off against East Rutherford at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
