Preview: Pittsfield Generals vs. Chicopee Pacers
The Pittsfield Generals will head out on the road to take on the Chicopee Pacers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pittsfield has three straight wins, Chicopee has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Pittsfield can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Monday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 67-40 win over Westfield. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Pittsfield has posted since December 16, 2023.
Pittsfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlotte Goodnow, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Goodnow is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madison Stetz, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Chicopee was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 45-41 to East Longmeadow.
Pittsfield's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Chicopee, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Everything came up roses for Pittsfield against Chicopee in their previous meeting two weeks ago as the team secured a 86-59 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pittsfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
