Softball Recap: Wesleyan Christian Academy's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Wesleyan Christian Academy dropped their record down to 6-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the High Point Christian Academy Cougars, falling 15-0. Considering the last time the Trojans couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

As for High Point Christian Academy, their victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

For High Point Christian Academy's part, Paisley Dixon looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Dixon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kerri Langfitt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maci Burkhart, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wesleyan Christian Academy will take on Freedom Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 0.6 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for High Point Christian Academy, they will square off against Weddington at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
