Baseball Recap: Muir Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Muir was handed a 12-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They skirted past the Saugus Centurions 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since March 10th.

Muir got a great performance from Miguel Castillo as he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Castillo is becoming a predictor of the Mustangs' success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 6-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Fletcher Paddock, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Ezekiel Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Muir was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

With the victory, Muir broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-7. As for Saugus, they dropped their record down to 11-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Muir will head out to challenge Burbank at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Saugus, they will be playing at home against Oakwood at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
