The Olathe Pirates will take on the Salida Spartans at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Olathe will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Olathe took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against North Fork, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Olathe narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past North Fork 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since March 16, 2024.

Evan Eddy made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
Eddy wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Good, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Salida not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12, 2024. They blew past Mitchell 14-4.
Like Olathe, Salida also got a great game from a two-way player: Scout Presley. On the mound, Presley pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Brody Hudson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Presley scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Hudson got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases. Hudson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Canin Becker, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Hudson Fisher, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Salida always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mitchell only posted an OBP of .393.
Olathe's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Salida, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Olathe has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .547. However, it's not like Salida struggles in that department as they've averaged .482. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Olathe suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Salida in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can Olathe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
