Basketball Recap: Somerset Academy Losee Skates Past Sunrise Mountain with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Somerset Academy Losee). Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 72-20 stomp they got against the Sunrise Mountain Miners. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Lions with their most commanding win of the season.

Somerset Academy Losee got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maurice Wicks-Wesley out in front who posted 18 points. That's the most points Wicks-Wesley has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Zion Gayle, who had 14 points.

Somerset Academy Losee's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Sunrise Mountain, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Somerset Academy Losee will be taking part in a tournament against Cesar Chavez at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cesar Chavez is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.9 points per game this season. As for Sunrise Mountain, they will host Valley at 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
