Softball Recap: Manchester Comes Up Short

If Manchester was riding high fresh off their 16-3 takedown of Augusta last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Greyhounds fell just short of the Eastern Warriors by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Greyhounds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Manchester saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Hayslip, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Manchester's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2. As for Eastern, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Manchester will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Glenwood at 11:00 a.m. The Greyhounds are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Eastern, they are taking a road trip to challenge North Adams at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Green Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.29 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
