Softball Preview: McGuffey Highlanders vs. Waynesburg Central Raiders

McGuffey has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Waynesburg Central Raiders at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. McGuffey is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

On Monday, McGuffey sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Keystone Oaks.

Makenna Crothers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Julia Barr was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicole Klages, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Waynesburg Central didn't have quite enough to beat Seton LaSalle on Monday and fell 2-1. Waynesburg Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
