Softball Game Preview: Maranatha Christian Academy Mustangs vs. Spectrum Sting

The Maranatha Christian Academy Mustangs will take on the Spectrum Sting at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Maranatha Christian Academy will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Osseo on Monday. The Mustangs blew past the Orioles 13-7. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Mustangs' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jenna Burns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Kendall Capp was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one triple. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Gracelyn Kersey-Schutta was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Spectrum put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let Legacy Christian Academy get on the board and left with a 24-0 victory. The Sting haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Maranatha Christian Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Spectrum, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
